I thought this would make a most appropriate post, since someone said that in New Hampshire, we have had 29 days of rain in June. I haven’t checked that to see if it’s a fact, but it’s highly plausible.
I painted the above poem and vignette several years ago on a slate tile 12” X 12”. The title of the poem is “I Want To Go Out But It’s Raining” by Lu You, circa 1200 A.D. (Southern Sung Dynasty). In English:
The east wind blows rain,
Vexing the rambler,
The road turns to mud
From fine dust.Flowers sleep, willows drowse,
Spring itself is lazy.
Who knew that I
Am even lazier than Spring?
*Sigh*
