Exhibit news and progress pic

I have been working on several things at once over the last couple of months, and while I’ve been working on my current mosaic, it’s been one of those “little bit here, little bit there” sort of things. The progress was so minimal each time that I didn’t bother posting pics because you’d probably think it looked the same as the last one.
Now I have a substantial bit done and I look up and behold – 3 weeks have gone by! Yikes. I haven’t been a slacker, exactly, I just have been focusing my efforts in too many directions at once.
At any rate, here is where I stand on the current piece:

I had no intention of using red for the background, but I put in several square inches of the planned greenish tan and hated it. So all of that had to be scraped off and I started over with red. I do like it, but I’m not sure how it will look once grouted. I always hold my breath til it’s done.
I would be tickled pink to have the whole thing finished, grout and all, by Saturday afternoon. Hm. Maybe.
And in other news:
Bellafiore has been accepted into the juried exhibit Back to the Garden at Ciel Gallery in Charlotte, NC. The exhibit runs from Friday April 3 through April 24. The opening reception is Friday, April 3 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Ciel Gallery, 128 E. Park Ave, Charlotte, NC. Would love to see you there – they always put on a fine production!

Art Every Day – Day 2

Day 2 of the Art Every Day Month – the morning and early afternoon were taken up by errands and grocery shopping, which left me with only about 2 hours to work on it. And I must admit, I have an ulterior motive for participating in this challenge anyway ~(NOW you tell us!!)~ I have a deadline to finish this piece and hope the challenge keeps me on track. I need to have it completed, grouted and photographed by November 9 for submission to an exhibition. Yeah, that’s only 7 days. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? Mmmmm…..

Anyway, below is today’s progess…

Skysong Pottery

Sally Cornwell is an amazing artist (operating as Skysong Pottery), and I am the proud owner of several pieces of her pottery. She mimics the wildlife and natural elements found here in New Hampshire with a precision that is almost incomprehensible. She was recently featured in NH Home magazine (congrats, Sally!). Here are some photos of my pieces – just look at these sweet things!

The frog is about 2.5” X 3”, and the little pot at the top is only 1.5” tall! Of course, the frog in the bottom of the coffee cup is even smaller, but I can’t quite measure it.

Isn’t her work fun? And to top it all off, she’s a wonderful person. She and her husband also own and operate a homemade chocolate business in Wolfeboro, NH called Winnipesaukee Chocolates. They have an adorable little shop in town, and my mosaics will be exhibited there during the month of July! And if you’re anywhere near Lake Winnipesaukee this summer (or anytime) be sure to pop in to their shop and get a scrumptious sample of their truffles. I guarantee you won’t leave empty-handed!
